An alternative to the Verizon Wireless Home Connect is the Telo 4G from Ooma.
It has been tested at our labs and we found it to be very easy to setup and use.

It has a very strong, clear voice signal and a detachable 4G antenna.  The antenna can be placed up to 8 ft away from the base, allowing a greater chance to receive a stronger signal, near a window or other opening.

Telo 4G is also VoIp capable, which means that it can use the internet to make calls, as well as, cellular service.  It also includes a battery backup unit.

Can you connect the commbox to the Ooma Telo 4G and view your farms from your app - Yes!  However, you might be disappointed with the speed.  (take a look at the attached)

This unit is mainly used to convert the land line to cellular service.  It will also allow you to attach the comm-box's network port into it and gain access to the internet.

We would recommend that you connect the Communicator 1.0 phone line into the Ooma Telo 4G in order to receive alarm calls.
